Still Busy

This week looks like it’s going to suck. Sorry I won’t be blogging as much but when I get back into the swing of things I am going to open my blog up.

So start thinking of things because it’s going to be an open discussion. Yes, I will write about your topics!

Just submit them by commenting to this post.

Hello Kitty Online…Big Disappointment

I think I am decent when it comes to MMORPGs. So I signed up to be a beta tester for Hello Kitty Online. I thought it would be funny to try it out along with my other friends to check it out. So far it has been terrible.

It started off bad when the downloader kept crashing so I pulled the torrent for it and downloaded it through torrent. Finally signed on and I had lame quests. I mean the previews looked pretty cool. I could farm my own stuff like Rune Factory but my first couple of quests were dull. One of them was to remind two other NPC (Non Player Characters) to return books to someone else. WTF MATE?!??

Maybe I was expecting too much.

I think I am going to pick up Call of Duty and play with my buddy from our SF office. Or maybe even get sucked into Warhammer Online since Andy and Mel are playing it but they are playing on The Order side. The Order like frigging lame. Destruction looks way much cooler.

Eh, fark it. I think I might just stick to my plan of being outdoors and hanging out with real people more. /shrug

Reserved

As of late I have been quiet and taken back because of recent events of both my personal and professional lives. You can say I am just tired and hoping to catch my breath so I can make some decisions with where I am going. Alas, as life has it I am not afforded that luxury.

I should however quit QQing because things are exciting, demanding, challenging and fun. It’s time to rise up and rawk eeeeet.

BTW…this is the cutest thing evar.

Uber Nerdy

John: Why are you taking the 10th off? A Manny Day?

Me: No Blizzcon. Blizzard’s convention. I bought tickets

John and Peter: *Weird Nod and Look*

Me: *Sigh*

You know you are nerdy when your CTO thinks you’re a nerd.

Tufte Seminar

Today I went to a lecture given by Edward Tufte thanks to John. The lecture was in Universal City and to my surprise the commute wasn’t bad. I even got to the Hilton before Eric did and he lives closer. w00t.

I seriously didn’t know what to expect, I did some research on the topic of Presenting Data and Information from his website. So I went in really ignorant. Go figure right? When the lecture started I thought his message was decent then it got really good. To the point I was actually enjoying myself, at a lecture. Right? WTF? He made a lot of sense when presenting data to people; that it is good to have information that isn’t presented in a stacked form but should be presented in an open space form where it is accessible by the person you are presenting it to at any time. I was also impressed with his collection of books, especially two that he shared with us. One being Euclid’s book of Geometry (First English Translation) and the other being Galileo’s first book he ever wrote. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has the first Bible written.

We took a lunch break so Eric and I took the shuttle from the Hotel to City Walk. We had a quick lunch since we only had an hour and the shuttle was running slow. We rushed back to the lecture where it started to go down a bit in my opinion.

Tufte started to talk about computers and there was a lot of Apple propaganda I could go without and I think I differ from his views of technology when it comes to operating systems and applications. He concluded the lecture by showing us a video he shot at the sculpture garden near his home which was great.

I think the lecture was beneficial and I recommend it to people who have to present a lot of data to people. I think the message he conveys is important and comes in handy for project managers, sales engineers and financial folks. He goes to New York next and does the rest of the east coast but he comes back to California where he is speaking at San Francisco and San Jose.

I do not recommend this workshop however for slimy sales guys. They wouldn’t grasp the concept of pushing good content and data to their audience since they are low life POS and should punch themselves in the face.

Rush Hour

So I brought in my Rush Hour game into work today and it was a blast, well with Eric and Brijesh.

I think Eric had too much fun with it. That it drove him mad when he tried to achieve the rank of “Grand Master.”

Brijesh on the other hand had no problem with the puzzle. He seriously tore each puzzle task up.

Even Adam came over to our area and played with it for a bit but couldn’t complete the Grand Master task. QQ

In the end Eric got really carried away with it that he stayed a little later to finish another Grand Master Puzzle but was unsuccessful. SUCKA!!! I think I should bring in more puzzle games, they seem to be fun!
