The Wild Weekend & SF

So last Friday was Eric’s going away party. Man we partied hard! We hit up three bars and I blew a .4 on the Breathalyzer. Don’t worry, Adam took my keys away. I honestly don’t know how I am still alive. Went to bed around 3am woke up at 8:30am to pick up my car. I got back to my place from Manhattan Beach and I couldn’t take a nap before the trek up to SF. I showered, packed then hopped in my car headed over to Adam’s and I was stuck in traffic. YAY!

We got to Santa Cruz around 6:30 and ate at Jacks. Oh my god I love that place. Then we bolted over to SF to have some drinks with CodJelly before the Bonobo’s DJ set at Mighty. Met Joyce, Trevor and friends at Mighty. I got to meet Bonobo, which was really cool because he’s a chill guy that makes amazing music. After the show we were invited to an after party. We hung out there for a bit until I threw in the towel at 4:30am. I turned to Adam and said, “I don’t care what you do. I am going back to Ellie and Cody’s and passing out.” So we left.

Sunday morning was full of fail but win at the same time. Foreign Cinema hates large parties for brunch so they made everything in their power to stop the eleven of us craving their delicious bacon and they were successful. We hopped on over to a breakfast place. It wasn’t a total loss though we went to Anthony’s Cookies NOM NOM NOM. I also got to spend some time with Andy and Moo. YAY! Adam and I left the city and visited my grandfather’s grave for a bit before heading back to Santa Cruz. We met Joyce and Trevor up for some Zoccoli’s. Chicken Pesto…*DROOOL* After hanging out for a bit we took the long way home and I got home at 1am. Needless to say I am still tired and broken for the weekend.

It was all worth it. Check out some video footage below from walking around Sunday morning in the mission.

Getting Flirty with Thirty

As I become the ripe age of twenty nine I’ve learned a lot this year. I am also thankful for a lot of things. There are also things I want to do this year and I need remind myself I should do them. Here goes nothing:

-Hike Half Dome
-Backpacking through the Rockies
-White Water Rafting
-Snowboarding (Giving it a good try this time)
-Surf
-Scuba Dive
-Travel through Costa Rica
-Learn more Filipino recipes from my parents
-Lose 20lbs…yes!
-Finish The Ender Wiggin Saga
-Shoot More. Concentrate on my own Art Portfolio
-Camp at least four times this year.
-Put together a theme camp for Burning Man.

I think it’s still a small list but it’s manageable for me.

The Phenom

Transformers

I was seriously upset with the first Transformers movie. It was terribad. The lore of it was based on the Decipticons and Autobots not fucking Shia Lecrap and some random Maxim Girl. The second has come out and Roger Ebert has given his two cents:

“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” is a horrible experience of unbearable length, briefly punctuated by three or four amusing moments. One of these involves a dog-like robot humping the leg of the heroine. Such are the meager joys. If you want to save yourself the ticket price, go into the kitchen, cue up a male choir singing the music of hell, and get a kid to start banging pots and pans together. Then close your eyes and use your imagination.

Way to destroy franchise assholes.

SF Roadtrip. Food, Friends and Fun.

Last Saturday Adam, Carrie and I got in our rented Chevy Impala and headed to SF. We didn’t head straight there though. We stopped in Santa Maria to pick up Ellie who is doing her externship there. Poor Jelly! The cool thing was though we got to have lunch in Pismo Beach at the Cracked Crab. We all shared a bucket of crab and it was delicious.

We got back on the road and found out that Chinese women are narcoleptic as Carrie and Ellie were proof of that. Adam and saw some crazy card board cutouts in Salinas. Very crazy. The 101 is a beautiful drive and I think it’s worth the time to see the farmland and California Coast. I did however take this awesome picture of Ellie.

We get to SF and Cody’s first words to us were, “Why is Manny sober?” We remedied that by going straight to Docs Clock right before dinner. The drinks there are stiff. I loved it. We put away two each and then went to Spork for dinner where Angela and Andy met us. If you decide to eat dinner there I recommend the Tasty Steak with a red wine. The dessert was excellent as well, mmmmmm Pot Brownie. Dinner was long. Very long. We went through multiple glasses of wine and even a dessert wine.

After dinner we went to Shotwells for more wine and beer. At this time I was getting tired and still was putting beer away while playing some pinball. It was great catching up with everyone. I think people were getting tired so we went back to CodJelly’s to hang out.

The next morning I got up early for some reason and just chilled in the living while everyone else was sleeping. SF is so beautiful in the morning. I swear I could end up living there. After everyone got up we chilled on the couch. CodJelly went on a walk and got some coffee, they also brought back cookies. They didn’t bring back regular cookies. They brought back Anthony’s Cookies. These cookies are the best cookies evar. I am serious. You must try these cookies. I order to you. Stop flying and go to SF. NAO.

We finally got our lazy arses out of the apartment and met Andy at Foreign Cinema. I probably had the best brunch of my entire life here. Everything was good. Everything. At one point I think no one was talking to each other because we were too busy enjoying our meal. I fell into a food coma after to the point where I couldn’t even think clearly.

Carrie made room for more cookies so we went back Anthony’s where Dadzitis and Keiko met us up. Dadzitis claims he is going to kill me at Burning Man. I think he will. Desert and alcohol? I might need to make sure I drink water all the time. Anyhoo we picked up more cookies and headed home.

We made a stop in Santa Cruz and walked around for a bit. Dropped of Jelly then headed straight home. I seriously hate renting cars. There is a side story that I don’t want to go into when Adam and I went to go pick up there. Ugh. They also gave us a shitty car. That thing got us there but the Impala is a piece of shit. Way to go Chevy engineers. Anyhoo, it was a great weekend. And as Luda said…”Damn right we’re gonna do it again!”

Revisiting Circlek.org

For most of you who don’t know I was apart of Circle K, no not the convenient store , the collegiate service organization.  While in this organization there was drama because some friends and I started a website that was much better than the organization’s main website.

Now when we launched UnofficialCKI.org we had more features, better content and our site layout/organization was far superior to the main official site, circlek.org. After the first week we didn’t know how the Kiwanis International Staff would react. Amy, Pete and I were hoping that they would be encouraging but alas they weren’t.

Their first action was to send us a cease and desist letter. There was also a long exchange of emails berating us and our website. They even deemed our actions “Conduct Unbecoming of a Circle K Member.”  It’s like we committed a crime against humanity the way they were treating us. My favorite exchange of communication with them was with the Kiwanis International, Steve Warner.

We might have bragged that the three of us created this fully featured site in one week. Mind you we were doing this during finals. So Steve responded by calling our website amateur and called PHP an entry level programming language. Now, I will cut him some slack. Seven years ago PHP was still building a community and starting out. It isn’t the monster what it is now. The funny thing is that now PHP is used by companies such as Facebook, Technorati and WordPress. I want to take this opportunity now to tell Steve, Casey Keller and Gloria Bidgood to go suck on a lemon and DIATF. I guess it would need to be a landfill fire rather than a trash fire.

So it has been seven years and where is circlek.org at now? It’s still the same, no progression. Information barely gets updated the only thing that is different is that they are using ASP.NET which is impressive but a bit overboard for such a small scale site.  You would think by raising dues that members would get more for their money. Instead members get to log onto a very poorly designed website with shitty content.

The Headline is Right

I have updated my headline on my site. That’s right folks no more WoW. No more raiding. I am done. Done making raid times. Done grinding rep. Done going for achievements. It’s over. It’s to the point where I don’t have access to my priest anymore.

Why the change? Well there are a lot of things this year I want to accomplish and I won’t be able to get those things done if I am conforming to a raid time three or four times a week. I need to get my body back into shape for Burning Man and Hawaii. I also have some side projects going on that need my attention and will need more of my attention as they progress. I also want to get back into my photography. My photography skillset have sort of deteriorated so I need to get back on the ball with it. Lastly, I want to spend more times outdoors and with friends. I live near the beach with so much freedom. I need to take advantage of it more.

So there you go. Hopefully it will be a fun ride.

Achievements…WoW!

So a group of my WoW friends and I went for the Undying achievement and title and we got it! w00t! My guild did Sartharion with 2 Drakes and downed it. We are going for Sartharion 3 Drakes hopefully we can get it. Just need more DPS and coordination.

Hard Times on a Drunkard

It is no secret that I enjoy going out to the pubs, bars and clubs and having a drink or two or million. It is rough economy out there and I wanted to help out my fellow drunkards who live in Los Angeles. So I challenged Adam and Justin to get me drunk for forty dollars.

We set out last Friday night to a bar called Liquid Kitty in Santa Monica. Adam and Justin didn’t play fair because the first shot was Bacardi 151… that’s just wrong! I was pretty much wrecked but not drunk from there. I got to chase it with a Long Island Iced Tea. So you can say I was done. So yes, you can drink for under $40.

You can pretty much go to any dive bar in LA and do your thang. I really recommend Liquid Kitty because they have some great deals. You can have PBR with pretty much any shot for around $5. Yes PBR isn’t the best but it will efff you up!

Thanks to Adam and Justin for doing this challenge. More kudos to Adam for being the DD. Don’t forget to be smart guys and drink safe, so have a DD! Have a good holiday!
